The following is an extract from the booklet “Designing and Planning Laboratories” published by CLEAPSS School Science Service. CLEAPSS are an independent advisory body established in the U.K. to advise schools on all aspects of laboratory construction. Section 5.3.2 “Cast epoxy sinks are highly resistant to both heat and chemical attack. In some cases they may be slightly cheaper than fire clay. Polypropylene sinks resist attack by chemicals, but can be damaged by hot objects. Stainless steel sinks are attacked by metal particles and corrosion can start.”
