Novalab Academic Series Fume Cupboard
Specifications
The following specifications apply to the Novalab Academic series fume cupboards.
Model Numbers: Novalab Academic A 1265, A 1265V, A 1565 and A 1565V.

Construction:
A1265 and A 1565
Fume cupboard from the Academic Series are manufactured and supplied by Novalab Systems Ltd.
The chamber is constructed from 13 mm thick chemical resistant and fire retardant compact laminate.
Front support pillars are powder coated extruded aluminium. Powder coating is high quality polyester based paint system and fully inspected for complete coating integrity over the entire outer surface.
Baffles are supplied in 6 mm thick chemical resistant and fire retardant compact laminate.
The fume cupboard base is constructed from 16 mm thick Trespa Toplab Plus or other suitable material recommended by Novalab Systems Ltd.
The sash shall be either acrylic or glass depending on material suitability for the application.
Options for A1265V and A 1565V
The general specifications are the same as for the A1265 and A 1565 with the exception of:
Chamber sides and rear have clear acrylic vision panels
Baffles manufactured from 6 mm thick clear acrylic to allow all round vision of the inner chamber.
Control System:
The controller complies with all aspects of AS/NZS2243.8 2006.
Fixed Volume Fume Cupboard
The control system is pre-wired to:
Single phase in/ 3 phase our motor speed control. This unit provides all the control parameters for the extraction fan, including time from initiating start to full fan speed, time from initiating stop to fan rest and control over the operating speed of the fan to ensure a minimum fume cupboard face velocity of 0.5 metres per second.
Double general purpose power outlets with RCD protection.
Fume cupboard status LCD readout. Provides continuous update of the fume cupboard operational status.
A pre-wired cable is supplied from the control unit for connection of a gas solenoid for combustible gas supply. This is not wired to the solenoid when the unit is supplied.
Overhead light unit.
Air flow sensor.
Electrical Requirements:
(Not provided as part of the fume cupboard supply)
Dedicated 15 amp, single phase power supply.
3 phase wiring from the fan speed control to the 3 phase motor supplied with the fan.
A suitable weather proof isolation switch on the fan motor.
Connection of the gas solenoid control wiring.

Duct Work:
All duct work should be supplied and fitted to comply with AS/NZS 2243.8 – 2006. The duct work shall be of suitable diameter to provide efficient extraction based on the dimensions of the fume cupboard. All duct work that runs inside the building shall be under negative pressure. Duct work materials shall be suitable for the chemicals and solvents that will be processed in the fume cupboard. All ducting specifications and installation standards shall comply with best engineering practice.
Exhaust ducts from different fume cupboards will remain separate and shall not be combined.
Services:
All fume cupboard services shall be in accordance with the fit out schedule. All service fittings and controls shall comply with AS/NZS 2243.8 – 2006.
Electrical components shall comply with AS/NZS 3000
All gas, water, waste and electrical services to be fitted and tested by suitably qualified trades people.
Services may include, but are not limited to:
Water supply.
Drip cup or epoxy resin sink for waste
2.3 litre dilution recovery trap
Multiple electrical outlets
Combustible gas outlets
Control System Options:
Where required, fume cupboard access can be restricted to authorised personnel only by PIN number activation.
The fume cupboard may be supplied with total usage data output, showing hours used, recommended service periods and annual inspection alarms. Other data outputs may be available on request.
